Tick Tock

When the first bell rings, the seconds begin to count
The fight against time has begun. Both fighters against the clock, trying to stop time.
A boxer knocked out, himself is counted out. No more time, time to go, home time.
A boxer down on one knee has time to get back. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
Time to be cheered on, or jeered off.
Then its time to start to stop time. Time and again.
The bout that doesn’t pass the first bell: the early knock-out-
is judged on the time elapsed, not on the content of the round.
Then its “How much time was spent in training?”
“How much time between this and his last bout?”
“How much time did it take the Prince to reach the ring..?”.
A punter can check his watch to see where the round is at,
the boxer who wonders about time is doomed.
Time is the enemy.
How devastating.

I am a 40 something Londoner living in Brixton. A divorcee and father of Francesca (9 years old). After many years of working in bars, trying to be a pop star/chef/licensee/racing driver (not really), then waking up to a long process of rehabilitation for various abuses, I decided on art college. I have recently completed 6 years of study in Fine Art at Camberwell and have achieved a Bachelors and a Masters degree. My principal research was the psychology of aggression, this led me to train and compete as a boxer.
